Rebol/Core on OSX
[1/8] from: warp::reboot::ch at: 25-Jul-2002 16:03
Hello all 8)
could someone tell me if there is anything I can do
to make it work or must I wait for RT to upgrade (will they?).
Thanks a lot!
Will

Hi Will,
I'm guessing you will have to wait, but have you tried the older Mac
versions? I don't know how OSX handles emulation/compatibility for older mac
apps.

Hello Will,
Have you tried to run Rebol in the "Classic" emulation mode under OSX?

hello,
I use rebol as cgi with erebol and apache,
so classic mode is no solution.
what if rebol/view on OSX would be cocoa native application that has support
for quicktime (now you also get broadcasting APIs) so we would have the best
comunication language with the best media platform.
es: IOS module for videoconferencing,..
would it be possible to write a rebol version that is a quicktime codec or
estension (QT > version 5) so that we get at the same time the browser
plugin functionality and the benefit of all media format supported by QT.
You could be serving web pages embedding quicktime content loading xml track
generated on the fly from other servers, have rebol codec interacting with
user and requesting flash generated (thanks David), alpha-layered controls
on movies or so..8)
well for real live I think I' ll have to use a linux server with /Command,
fastcgi and erebol. Anyone using a similar solution and being happy??
Thanks again and viva rebol.

could you be more specific? Why is for RT so difficult to provide us
developers with more info on products and releases and I guess you all know
what I mean (help I need to justify rebol use to my boss)

Hi Will,
I'm sorry, disregard my earlier note about core working for me - I'm on
10.1.5 not on 1.2 - I suspect you will have to wait.
Thats what you get for working on a beta OS!
I'm just green with envy mind you. :-)
Sorry, no help here, Rod.

I'm sorry to jump in late but what exactly isn't working with Core on OS
X?
It seems to work fine for me.
So far I have only installed it and done some simple console tests,
nothing cgi related.

Hi Rod,
10.2 is amazing!
I'm not a real programmer, so I thought maybe one of the gurus on the list
would know a little unix trick to patch that.
Looking at the error message again:
> dyld: ./rebol Undefined symbols:

and googleing for "Trace/BPT trap" returns this is a freebsd debug utility.
So is it just beta version debug code not happy and so rebol will probably
run just fine on 10.2 release?
Is there any command I can issue to stop debugging?
Anyway not a big problem, as you said it works just nicely on 10.1.5 and
with apache, mysql and erebol,..
Thank you an have a nice day
Will

Hi Will,

I am looking forward to it in August. :-)

I suspect this is just a case were RT will need to compile a new version
of Core for 10.2 with the latest developer tools. I think these kinds
of symbol errors are related to the compiler or library changes in 10.2
but I don't really know - not having done much OS X development.

Thanks, same to you!
