Browser gripe was - Re: Serial Communications - GPS Sings!

Hmm.... Like Joel I'm using Netscape. I did try to load Netscape 6 once but
the pain of using it made me remove it faster than it installed. I'm am
using Netscape < 6 as IE causes my machine to hang frequently.
Unhappiness... A particular site will crash my machine when I use IE - the
same one can be fine in Netscape. Often as not though, I suffer from the
unreadable website phenomenon in netscape. Quite incredible really given the
technology was intended to be simple (at least at the beginning).
No doubt the advice will be "upgrade your machine". Sometimes I tire of the
upgrade to solve
solution and in this case it will be expensive. But I am
pretty much resigned to it. As the critical mass moves, it pressures me to
stay with it (even if at the fringe). I want to say "enough" to upgrading MS
Office and Windows - the costs (price + other) seem to be skyrocketing.
Alas, device support lends a hand to the MS royalty.
The browser share statistics were interesting and powerful (interestingly
the statistics seem to encouraging more sites to be unreadable in Netscape).
That said though, I reject (working within my limited webpage capability)
locking off access to non-IE users to codeconscious.com for obvious reasons!
It will be interesting to see how non-pc or non-Windows based browsers
affect those statistics in the years to come.
Brett.
