ODBC Socket Server / VC++ Help!
[1/4] from: ryanc:iesco-dms at: 22-Mar-2001 14:21
I stumbled across an ODBC Socket Server this morning. I have started
making a scheme for it, but I have ran into some problems. It comes as
NT service and we inhilated our last NT OS here about 6 months ago. It
also includes source and instructions for creating a Win98 build, but it
needs to be compiled using Visual C++. Can someone do this for me?

Hi Ryan,
the ODBC Socket Server looks great. I tried to compile it and it prints
syntax error:
Processing C:\Program Files NT\Microsoft Visual
Studio\VC98\INCLUDE\msxml.idl
msxml.idl
C:\Program Files NT\Microsoft Visual
Studio\VC98\INCLUDE\urlmon.idl(1830) : error MIDL2025 : syntax error :
expecting a type specification near "IEnumString"
C:\Program Files NT\Microsoft Visual
Studio\VC98\INCLUDE\urlmon.idl(1830) : error MIDL2026 : cannot recover
from earlier syntax errors; aborting compilation
Error executing midl.exe.
I don't understand Microsoft IDL (Interface Definition Language), so
I don't know what's wrong. I suspect I have old header files, I'll
try to download newest Microsoft SDK.

In the PDF, it says to use the build configuration "Win32 Release". Its all
greek to me.
Thanks for the help,

Hi Ryan,
after installing newest Microsoft Platform SDK and Internet Explorer
5.5 header and libraries (!), I was able to compile ODBCSocketServer
for Windows 98. I hope REBOL will never have such dependency problems
as Microsoft XML parser. It seems to run in Windows 98, but it does not
appear in process list after ctrl+alt+del. Use attached program
pview95.exe to verify that ODBCSocketServer is really running. I did
not try database connections with it.
I send it to you directly, since Listar will strip the binary
attachment.
Hope this helps,
