grid question

I've got a box that has a grid effect and some draw stuff.
When I resize the box, the draw stuff redraws correctly with
the new values, and the grid resizes to cover the new box
size. But I can't seem to change the grid spacing ...
Probing the effect block after resizing shows the correct
pair for the grid spacing.
