R3 & R2
[1/9] from: semseddinm::bircom::com at: 10-Feb-2009 10:58
Hi, If I purchase R2 then can I use my license key for R3 also? Or it will require another license? Thanks.

If you mean the SDK, then no one outside of RT knows. On Tue, Feb 10, 2009 at 9:58 PM, =AAemseddin Moldibi [ Bircom ] <semseddinm-bircom.com> wrote:

Ok, thanks, I should ask this to someone from RT. Website/feedback is the place I guess.

Hi Şemseddin, ŞMB> Ok, thanks, I should ask this to someone from RT. ŞMB> Website/feedback is the place I guess. Yes. And ask if you can post the info here. If you don't get a response, let me know. -- Gregg

I thought the plan was R3 would be free and RT would make their money developing tools and services. I guess an sdk would be one of those tools...in which case I would guess you would need to buy a new license...at best they could offer a discount to loyal customers...those that already have r2 sdk Products like command and pro will not be offered as those parts will be built in or provided via add ons by RT or 3rd party. If you hope to develop an app within the year i would buy r2 sdk...I just bought it last month.

I see. Thanks. I thought that it would be better a donation link on RT's web site. Most of us would make donations. -Gregg: No response yet.

Though nothing is official, I still think this is the case with an entirely free R3 and a paid-for SDK/encapper. Still, R3 will probably be so flexible here that you can build your own encapper, circumventing paid-for tools. So for RT to make money, they would have to develop a new IOS and other tools. -- Regards, Henrik Mikael Kristensen

I asked this question to RT, here is the reply: Semseddin Moldibi [ Bircom ] wrote:

Although we have not finalized the R3 licensing, we always offer our current customers credit toward upgrading to the newest license. We will probably offer customers who have purchased a similar license in the past year a free copy. The SDK license is a single user license, the spirit of the license is a single computer as well. If you change PCs of course you can reinstall it on your new system. We have no fancy way of stopping you from installing it where ever you want, your conscience will have to be your guide.
