PDA

 [1/7] from: ptretter:charter at: 30-Oct-2001 19:48

Anyone know if there is a current implementation of REBOL on PDA anywhere. I am getting ready to buy one and was wondering if REBOL was successfully tested to run on one of those as it would greatly effect my buying decision. Oh and where the Heck is Encap. Your killin me out here. Paul Tretter

Several people on this ML are running Core on Ipaqs.... If you want Encap, talk straight to REBOL, [cindy--rebol--com] Enjoy!! you want to go to this site: http://developer.sharpsec.com register and check out this pda! It will be a great rebol device... The one they show on the front page is an outdated picture so be sure to register. rishi --- Paul Tretter <[ptretter--charter--net]> wrote:

Hi Paul, I daily use Rebol on PocketPC and old WindowsCE devices (all from the currently available windowsce core rebol). Matter of fact, I use an old Clio to develop my rebol scripts ;) Unfortunately, most pda have no keyboard or useless one for long programming, previous model of handheld pc provides more if you need to develop on the device. If it's only for test and running script, a pda can do it ;) Best, Chris

Hi Paul, One thing to consider : only core does run on wince, there is no view distro yet available for it... although I would really really like that ;-) Best, Chris

Hi Rishi, I look fwd to this one, might replace my current pdas ;) however, I'm currently in a state of mind where REBOL is everything and OS are quite boring ;) I never quite got into *nix or linux and I'm getting less and less interested by Microsoft's OS... So I'm waiting for something new, that will support REBOL. The sharp device looks like a winner, but so far Linux pda haven't really made it like Palms or PocketPCs... Anyone wanting REBOL to run on ATHEOS.cx OS ??? Best, Chris

In regards to this new PDA, it does look quite amazing - runs Linux/Java OS (which makes me wonder if it will be running a Java front-end on Linux?). If anyone would like to start a project to work Rebol in with this new PDA, I would love to be a part of it (I have webspace available as well). I have written micro-sized apps for Palm and WinCE (ran off the net on Pocket IE). -Jon
