Quick Editor Poll

 [1/9] from: dada::gecko::verizon::net at: 22-Jun-2002 22:22

Hey all, Just thought I'd try to find out what eveyrone's using for a rebol editor. I'm using emacs (thanks to Marcus Petersson) half the time, and the View built-in editor the other half. Sorry if the question seems innane. I'm fascinated with REBOL and am trying to get a handle on how many people use it, for what, and how it fits into their other routines (including how it's edited). Thanks :) sd -- --------------------------------- : sabin densmore : www.onegecko.com : [sabin--onegecko--com]

I use Metapad myself. Never really needed colour coding or anything fancy - even the windows Notepad with Win2k is fine. In BeOS I use Styled Edit which also works fine. I guess if I was really into lots of REBOL programming i'd probably use Emacs as most people I've heard on the list like that or some Vi version... James.

You might like to try Eden Kirin's conTEXT, http:\\www.fixedsys.com\context a good free programmers editor. Regards Derek -- http://dergaruk.active.ws/

I think we've had this discussion before -- check the archives for lots of opinions and advice on configuring various editors for Rebol syntax coloring. Of course, there are probably more editors since the last discussion, so I appreciate seeing new reccommendations. I'm using CREdit right now: -- http://www.praven3.com/credit/ -- Free -- Small -- Had Rebol syntax highlighting -- But Windows only Sunanda

Just trying it out now, and some Rebol words are highlighted. Andrew Martin Alway open to change... ICQ: 26227169 http://valley.150m.com/

Hi Sabin, It's all over the board I think. Emacs seems popular, but I don't think there's one clear leader at this point. I use ConTEXT, though I dream of a killer REBOL editor written in REBOL. :) --Gregg

I'm noticing that. I was using the editor included with View, but now have switched to emacs, as I use it for the other coding I do. Funny that you should mention the rebol editor written in rebol. I was thinking about that today. How cool would that be? And what a way to promote the language. I'm not sure how this is usually handled, but it would be cool to get a CVS repository set up somewhere and do a group "Rebeditor" project going. Kind of show the world how cool Rebol can be. Just a thought. A dream. sd Gregg Irwin wrote:

I use vi or vim on all platforms (Solaris, HP-UX, Mac OS X, w32) so my fingers don't have to decode the eye candy to know how to get things done... ;-) -jn- -- ; Joel Neely joeldotneelyatfedexdotcom REBOL [] do [ do func [s] [ foreach [a b] s [prin b] ] sort/skip do function [s] [t] [ t: "" foreach [a b] s [repend t [b a]] t ] { | e s m!zauafBpcvekexEohthjJakwLrngohOqrlryRnsctdtiub} 2 ]
