heya hey, folks, the famous sentence "the wait is over" finally
fullfilled :-) ...well, the wait seems to be "nearly" over ;-) They
should ask us for assigning IOS better name - how are we going to call
it - Rebos? Magma?
Well, ehm, a little bit of marketing buzz - IOS Lite, IOS Express, IOS
Host, IOS Group .... repacked View, Express, Command? I think I will
stay with old names - much cooler :-)

Hi Petr,
And to say I was wishing for a Rebol/OS all weekend, something to completely
replace my workspace, forget Windows, forget Linux, gimme Rebol/OS... seems
to be becoming true... looking forward to this IOS ! Would be cool to be
always booting in Rebol ! I mean, I no longer use my computer for anything
else except other things I could do from rebol !
Best,
Chris

Hi Christian,
OK OK - we all know what was original master plan of Carl - first - to be hosted
- then become native. However - I am not sure that plan is still actual. You
should filter what stands behind Rebol/IOS - it is refined Rebol/View +
messaging capabilities of /Express, probably refined too. I think you still
can't replace your Windows :-) Maybe you could try to boot with Rebol as default
shell for Windows, instead of Explorer? :-) However - if RT didn't do something
to fs stuff for e.g., just don't try to open file dialog for your Windows XP
directory, or you will wait and wait and wait :-)
I am very curious, what changed under the hood, in technology itself (Core, View
engine, etc.)

Hi Pekr,
Of course I know they wouldn't make the jump to native yet, and in a sens it
might be better to be hosted, then I could use any OS to log on my Rebol/IOS
! That would make sense...
Best,
Chris

I actually like IOS, but it could be a bit confusing/problematical...

Of course, they're "IOS Express", "IOS Lite" and so on, which probably
lets them get away with it...
RebOS is quite good.

What I would like to see is a dos version of Rebol and IOS. I have a bunch
of old computers that are too slow for anything by DOS. My kids would have
a blast learning Rebol. I also have an old laptop computer that could be
resurrected.

Hi Pekr,

Maybe they want to go with "Rebellious". IOS doesn't sound so good out of
context though.

Since one is into name discussions here, how about RĘBOS? (relative AND
expression-based...). I kinda like the Ę.

I vote for Chomsky. (Like Noam). See my article
at

scroll down to "Tim's Bytes"
I do like your name however, but I'm afraid some
Micro$oft $oftware will butcher it.
(Just makeing some tongue-in-cheek comments while I watch
horror unfold on my TV - too distracted to write code.)

REBOL/IOS quickly spoken can be pronounced as "rebellious" :)

Wow, I had no idea an OS was in the works. However, I tend to think that
direction when it comes to Carl's ideas. Anyway, the REBOS name sounds
cool. Where can we get a demo of this or something. I'm very curious as to
how this compares. Also, would be nice to get some stimulation in my
managers about this.
