ML unsubscription
[1/6] from: sqlab:gmx at: 13-Sep-2002 9:07
Since Monday I did not get any messages from this mailing list.
When checking with Listar, I was told, that I was unsubscribed.
But I did not unsubsribe, as far as I know.
So I am asking, are there others who got unsubscribed with out doing this by
themselves?

Occasionally people get dropped. I've been dropped once, I know others have
been dropped. I don't think the condition for it is predictable but is
probably related to networking problems somwhere in the big wide net.
Regards,
Brett.

Yes, that happened to me once too. Long time ago, though.

Hi,
Absolutely .... I was somehow unsubscribed for no apparent reason.
Worse still I couldnt resubscribe myself as when I tried to browse the
Rebol homepage (http://www.rebol.com) IE came back with "Page not found".
(I couldnt ping it either). Yet other people would see the page.
I didnt get any ML mail for about 2 weeks.
Then a few days ago (10 Sept) I tried the homepage again and IE found it, and
I managed to re-subscribe.
Strange ....
Cheers Phil (Bevan)

It happened to me once. It might have been due to an attachment or posting
too many times?

Hi, AR,
As others have mentioned, it does happen (3 times for me so far).
I can't find the posting that explained it last year, but I believe that it
was Holger who explained that Listar software detects bounced email, and if
it bounces x number of times, Listar unsubscribes that email address.
Nothing personal; just your email server was not reachable. I've gotten in
the habit of checking escribe when I haven't received email just to be sure
that I didn't get unsubscribed.
Apologies if I misquoted the source, but I believe the essence of what I
have said is correct.
