State of View 1.3?

 [1/2] from: jamesh:Volition-inc at: 28-Jun-2004 9:55

I spent a good amount of time back in the Autumn of 2002 looking at cross-platform GUI solutions. REBOL/View showed great promise at the time, being so much nicer than Tk, wxWindows, and other bulky solutions. But it wasn't quite there yet. Anything involving subpanels got ugly real quit (not a blind slam; this has been discussed here before). And development was languishing. Then it looked like RT was kickstarting itself. I remember the message about how there would be monthly email newsletters and so on. And then...silence. I have high hopes for REBOL/View 1.3. So, clearly, what is being expected from 1.3 and when? This year? This is my one last ditch effort for getting excited about REBOL again, before I stop peeking my head back into the community every so often, so tell me good things :)

Carl is about the only one who can really answer this question, but just in case you missed them here are some milestones you may want to take a look at http://www.rebol.net/projects/view1.3/downloads/ http://www.rebol.net/projects/view1.3/image.html Work on 1.3 was also impacted by work on the REBOL browser plugin http://www.rebol.com/news4301.html Things also went quiet a while back as the REBOL ML went down for an extended period of time. For long time REBOL watchers the good news is that the number of "announcements" has steadily increased over the last year ... it appears that more people are doing more good things with REBOL (IMHO).
