[REBOL] Rebol Programming Class/Mailing List
From: tim::johnsons-web::com at: 12-Sep-2001 12:08
Hi: As some of you might know, I designed a high-school level course
on programming with rebol as the medium last year.
We presented the first course spring semester with 2 students, and only one
finised. This fall, we will have 9. And they are all very gung ho.
I was literally learning rebol as I designed the course, but I did
feel (and still do) that it was the ideal first language.
(as well as increasingly my language of choice)
This mailing list is a major asset to me. I COULD recomend each of
these 9 sign up on this list as well.
However, I would like to suggest an alternative:
It might be preferable (and I believe that the School District would
prefere it) to have these students on a mailing list hosted by
a local domain hoster. If that is the case, then I would like to
invite some of you here to participate in it as well.
I'm obviously very new to rebol myself and would appreciate a
guru
looking in from time to time.
I think this is a great opportunity to promote rebol. The following
three semesters in the agenda are:
python (semester 2), perl(semester 3), and C/C++ (with abstract
datatyping as a major issue and probably with rebol as a prototyping
tool) for the fourth semester.
In a relative area, we are also looking at using rebol to design
an Artificial Intelligence type of application aimed at addressing
the issue of Teen Suicide.

To wrap this up, if anyone want to be on this Course mailing
list, let me know. I love to see an RT member on it, but
I know how busy you "guys" are. (Sorry, Cindy!)
Regards
Tim
