Fortunately for you, the eScribe site is back up and working properly, where previous REBOL list messages are archived ;) http://www.escribe.com/internet/rebol/index.html I don't know of any off the top of my head. However, if you can find a webhost which provides you with shell access, use the 'uname -a' command to find out what OS and platform are running, and you can put REBOL on the server itself with only your perms. Wish I could help you out a touch more right now, except it seems my connection is down. And I use a cable modem, too. "Always on" they say - pah! :/ Stupid Time-Sata... I mean, Time-Warner..

Hi, Janko. The Xitami web server is free and does Rebol CGI exactly like the examples in the Rebol documentation. It's available here: http://www.xitami.com/ Andrew Martin

There's a tutorial about setting it up on free-prohosting here... http://hammer.prohosting.com/~rebol/rebol-cgi-prohosting.html except prohosting have just moved their servers in the last week and I notice the test script I'd done isn't working now. I've not looked into the problem yet - hopefully they've just changed OSs or processors and it can be worked out what they're using again. No cheap hosting with REBOL support (never mind free) is a drawback to it becoming popular on the Net. Does the change in licencing mean hosts can now put it on their servers for no charge? You know - so it can go head-to-head with perl? -- Carl Read

Another alternative is to download Apache 2 - its easy to install into windows if you use the MSI package. (Just that if you have IIS running you will want to kill IIS's access to port 80..) HTH. James.

Of course, this isn't an option if you don't run your own dedicated server with a dedicated connection, and you wish the content to be always up.

I have a site served by dreamhost.com They are an excellent ISP who use suExec to make installation and CGI work very friendly. They start at $9.95/month. If you can't/won't afford that, and just need to do some Rebol testing work for while, then I can add you as user to my site and let you test& develop there for a while for free. PHP, Python and Rebol all running, including Vanilla, Magic!. Let me know better what you need to do, and for how long. ./Jason ______________________________________________ Jason Cunliffe [NOMADICS: Director art+design] Tel/fax: +1 718 422-1078 [jasonic--nomadics--org] N 43:00.000' W 074:31.875' ALT:1144 ft 84 Henry Street #3C Brooklyn NY 11201 USA

This option works fine for our standalone Win2k box - just use 127.0.0.1/whatever as a local web address from any browser/app..

I grabbed some sites from this thread and added them to my list, available here: http://www.lexicon.net/anton/RebolFriendlySites.html then I wrote a Rebol/View program to display it and also generate the html. :) http://www.lexicon.net/anton/rebol/doc/rebol-friendly-sites.r It has a feedback system (email) so you can use that to post additions and comments. Anton.
