[ALLY] REB Sites

 [1/20] from: carl::rebol::com at: 14-Apr-2001 20:00

Also, if you happen to get a reb site up and running... post the address here, and I'll add it to the Sites index. -Carl

Hi Carl My rebsite is up and running on View 1.1 beta. Please add an icon for me on the REBOL index.r. I have a link back to you for other sites which works fine. The URL for mine is: http://www.nwlink.com/~ecotope1/index.r View looks great! -Larry

Is there a way to get the old /View dev panel with the current distribution. Otherwise I thought the index.r stuff was dead with this version. Paul Tretter

It's more than just the panel... There is now an official format for the index files -- the old ones will not work. However, they can be easily modified. The 1.1. format is: REBOL [type: 'index] folder "folder name" %folder-index.r info "Info about the folder." file "file name" %file.r info "Info about the file." file "docs" http://www.com/docs/doc.html file "file2" %file2.r icon %icon-image.gif A range of suffixes are available... glance at filetypes.r in your desktop folder. You can also include various options for the index file, such as its color, effect, etc. More info to come... soon... -Carl At 4/14/01 10:02 PM -0500, you wrote:

http://www.compkarori.co.nz/index.r but most of my view stuff is now broken with the new version :-( -- Graham Chiu

Hello Carl, please add my rebsite to /View 1.1 http://www.rebol.cz/~cyphre/index.r thanks a lot Cyphre

Anton, Cool scripts. Many of these I've not seen before. The site has been added, but two things: 1) add a "contact" icon in index.r file: file "Feedback" [arolls--bigpond--net--au] 2) on those graphics "include" files, rather than: do %graphics.r use: read-thru http://.../.../graphics.r I use a fetcher like: files: [%file1.gif %file2.gif %...] site: http://www...com/graphics/ foreach file files [read-thru site/:file] Thanks for adding the Reb site. Let us know if that name is ok. Was not sure. -Carl At 4/17/01 02:48 AM +1000, you wrote:

Please add http://www.ross-gill.com/index.r as 'Chris RG' to the list of sites. I promise I'll try harder to add new stuff this time :o) (Actually, I may have a couple of interesting projects to add. Soon.) - Chris

Using View 1.0.0.3.1 on the pc I get this:
>> do http://www.ross-gill.com/index.r
** Script Error: backdrop has no value ** Near: backdrop %files/back-mountain.jpg [fit] file "Isle of Arran" I also can not use my old index.r with the new View :( Regards -- Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth--that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves, too. -- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe sent via Yam ver2.2 on AmigaForever verIV Be a Rebel get Rebol@ rebol.com UIN#=9391028

Thanks, I posted a little hastily, I'm still working on it all. - Chris

Please add: http://users.bigpond.net.au/datababies/anton/rebol/index.r Anton.

Hi Allen, it should be available. I was contacted by Cyphre about the isue and he introduced few bugs to his solution: 1) His index.r script missed type: 'index field ... 2) he referred to /swis NOT swis.r, and it is a bug as script gets loaded into browser window rather than executed. You have to reload his reb-page and everything should be OK Allen, please let me know the result... Thanks, -pekr- Allen Kamp wrote:

Cyphre, is everything ok on your server? I get either this error or timeouts.. ** User Error: Error. Target url: http://www.rebol.cz/~cyphre/index.r could not be retrieved. Server re sponse: HTTP/1.0 503 Service Unavailable Cheers, Allen K

Oh, ok, done.

In my case, files: [ %graphics.r %sonic-fungus.r %bulge.r %twirl.r ] site: http://users.bigpond.net.au/datababies/anton/rebol/ foreach file files [do load-thru site/:file] That's quick and easy to write, but I want to use a system where the net is favoured over the cache. I think I saw someone do this somewhere...

That's fine.

Yeah, I know. But they need to be that long! ;) I might consider changing it. Anton.

Hi Chris, Great to see you back, And even better to see one of the first scripts ever posted to the ally-list remain alive and well. REBOL postcards are a great concept, one day I might get around to doing a Brisbane one like I promised back then. ;-) Cheers, Allen K

Thanks :o) I worked at recoding it in VID (compare the code if you have the original - much neater) mainly as practise for a few new presentations in the works. I might even get some new pictures... - Chris

To add a REBOL site, send it to Sterling and I at [rebmaster--rebol--com]. We'll post it quickly. Be sure to tell us what icon name you want, and what help info to display when the user hovers over it. -Carl
