beginner's docs missing on RT's website (was) Re: Re: REBOL Relational O

Hi, maybe more message for RT folks than for ml public, but my opinion is, that earlier docs as "Rebol in ten steps", "Rebol in a nutshell" etc. had their place on RT's website. Carl, Holger - what do you think? I remember myself teoretically understanding some part of VO object language, but when I opened dev environment I was not able to create even single "Hello World" example :-)) Maybe there could be some "Introduction to Rebol usage" section in developers section of website? It was imo very good kind of start for Rebol newcommers. Anyone to second my opinion? -pekr- Maurizio Converso wrote:

I agree. What helps me understand a concept best is to see it used in a bare-bones working program (like the ones pekr mentioned) with lots of comments. Such a little program for each function would really help. Louis

I'll second that :-) -- Graham Chiu

I sure do. Christian Langreiter has done a wonderful (IMO) implementation of a Wiki-like system that he calls `Vanilla'. I wonder if Vanilla, since it is built out of REBOL components, might not serve as a good way to collect and manage this kind of information. If anyone is interested I'll be happy to provide URLs etc...

I have voiced this concern twice before, and will happily voice it again. While Jeff K's piece located on Allen K's website is a similar kind of introduction, a brief overview should be readily visible on the main website. In summary, I third that idea. ("Thirding?" ;-) --Scott Jones

If anyone wants to write some simple intro articles, I'll be happy to add them to the site. Cheers, Allen K

It's OK - the problem is - the articles were on-line some few months ago, and, they NEED to be present on RT's website, as newcomers come to their site first ... nothing against placing them on rebolforces.com too of course :-) -pekr-
