Intro to Rebol article for DevX

 [1/9] from: bry:itnisk at: 23-Jan-2005 17:03

Hi, i've been asked to write an intro to rebol article for devX, a task for which there are any number of people better suited and for which i wouldn't have the time anyway. So if anyone is interested in writing this i can direct the devx editors to you as i still follow this list well enough to know who knows, even if i hardly ever use the language anymore. -- Bryan Rasmussen

And then it would be very interesting to know: 1) Why don't you use it anymore, and 2) what languages do you use now, for things that you used rebol to do earlier? HY

and 3) given 1) and 2), how did DevX find you and ask you to write the intro? --Maarten

because i wrote another article for them a long time ago in which i used rebol as the demonstration language for some parts. -- Bryan Rasmussen Quoting Maarten Koopmans <[maarten--vrijheid--net]>:

well basically my current work is governmental focused on standardisation of xml formats, in which most of my time is devoted to writing web services using .net , xslt transformations, xml schema, schematron, xml pipelines and so forth. rebol does not provide any of this stuff, add that to the difficulty of getting people to accept new things, and i have enough new things to get people to accept anyway, i just don't have the incentive currently to use rebol. -- Bryan Rasmussen Quoting Hallvard Ystad <[hallvard--ystad--oops-as--no]>:

A quick google for "rebol introduction" reveals a few candidates. Why couldn't you just refer them to one of those ? Anton.

well i suppose i can do that, but it seemed more reasonable to ask the list if anyone felt like writing one first. -- Bryan Rasmussen Quoting Anton Rolls <antonr-lexicon.net>:

Good thinking. It seems likely that someone wanting an article wants a fresh one from a fresh perspective, rather than a retread. You've come to the right place -- I hope someone takes the opportunity, Sunanda.
