Google ads

 [1/10] from: hallvard::ystad::oops-as::no at: 29-May-2005 0:00

Hi list I've been annoyed by a problem in 'parse for a while, and have been looking on the Euphoria programming language as a possible replacement for rebol for a specific task. But alas!, Euphoria have even bigger MacOS problems than rebol has. There is no macOS version of Euphoria, and my server is a mac. Isn't it just typical? But anyway, a friend of mine tipped me that a simple google search for "rebol" now yields a page with Euphoria as the only payed ad... I find it interesting... HY

Hi Hallvard, HY> I've been annoyed by a problem in 'parse for a while... What's the problem you're having Hallvard? -- Gregg

The ads you see depend partially on your geotargeting (ie where in the world Google thinks you are; which may have no relation to where you actually are). When I search for REBOL, I tend to see 4 ads on the main SERP and 3 or 4 on the Groups page. But it cam also vary by time of day and a pile of other factors. But it does mean that some advertisers are targeting the term REBOL.. If you get a logo to Google Adwords you can design a campaign around the word REBOL and see just how much it would cost you to run the campaign -- also estimates of how often your ad will be seen and clicked. It's one way to get an idea of the comparative assumed commercial value of (say) REBOL vs Perl. Sunanda.

Here in New Zealand, all I'm getting at the moment is the Euphoria advert.

Not webhosts though, as far as I can tell. I tried searching for some with REBOL support today, but all I found was Nebularis, (who I use and recommend), which is not very impressive after all this time and considering Core's now free for commercial use. (There used to be a "REBOL friendly hosts" page somewhere a while back, but it's gone now. Anyone know of other hosts who mention REBOL support?) Hopefully the release of View 1.3 will generate some interest in REBOL again... -- Carl Read.

Interestingly I get Euophoria too. (I'm based in India.) -- Premshree Pillai http://www.livejournal.com/users/premshree/

Thanks for fixing it! I was reminded of it by the broken links to it that Google turned up. Some of the links on your page don't work anymore though, or are re-directed to different sites. Be good to have a check through them sometime. -- Carl Read.

If I search Google using Safari or Firefox from my Mac, I get no sponsored links. Using Firefox, I get 4 ebid, ebay, PrimalScript & Euphoria. Google thinks my PC is in the UK but doesn't seem to know the whereabouts of my Mac :-))) Peter

At all, or just when searching for "rebol"?
