Moving the lists

 [1/3] from: brett:codeconscious at: 16-Oct-2000 13:00

There was movement 'round the station for the word had got around that the rebol list from 'ol RT had got away.... [My apologies for doing injustice to Banjo Patterson's work] I'm curious, as I've noticed a few enthusiastic members have already decamped in favor of egroups (perhaps prematurely), when the demise of [list--rebol] will be? It would be nice to have an official "list is now closed" message - or at least a "thanks Selma" - from RT so that the rest of us know when (and where) to move. An update to RT's support page with reference to the new official lists would be good too. Also, will rebol.org live, continue to fade into obscurity or just be moved to the bit-bucket? Brett.

And let me know who I should make the new owner and moderator of these lists: [Rebol-List--egroups--com] [Rebol-Core--egroups--com] [Rebol-View--egroups--com] [Rebol-Command--egroups--com] ?

moved to the bit-bucket? I've got some ideas about that, percolating in my head. Andrew Martin ICQ: 26227169 http://members.nbci.com/AndrewMartin/

Sorry for the confusion. The temporary downtime of the REBOL mailing lists was caused by a technical problem on one of our machines that is not related to the discussion about moving the lists to a different location. It was just unfortunate timing that the problem happened right in the middle of that discussion, and during a weekend... The main REBOL mailing list should be up again. The ALLY and COMMAND lists are still down, but should be up again soon. We are working on it. For the time being, the lists are still at their usual location. Moving them to eGroups was just one idea, i.e. one out of several possibilities that we are considering. Carl asked on the list to find out if there were any major objections to this. We appreciate the effort you guys spent on creating new lists on eGroups, thinking about naming etc., and will take these suggestions into consideration. However, for the moment please stay on the usual, official REBOL mailing lists. Once a decision has been made if and how to move and/or rename the mailing lists we will make public announcements on each of the "old" lists. We will also, if possible, automatically migrate users to the new lists, so no un/resubscribe should be necessary. Again, sorry for the confusion and the downtimes. Things should be sorted our Really Soon Now :). -- Holger Kruse [holger--rebol--com]
