RSS feed at REBOL.org

 [1/6] from: SunandaDH::aol::com at: 1-Feb-2006 5:14

We've added an RSS feed to REBOL.org. To subscribe, just click the link on the home page. Or tailor yourself an RSS feed by adding the parameters as described here: http://www.rebol.org/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/rebol/boiler.r?display=rss-help It publishes three sets of information about the Library: -- new and updated scripts -- new and extended mailing list threads -- news (as per the news snippets on the home page) If it doesn't work with your RSS reader (we're emitting RSS 2.0 format), please let us know the version number and the format changes needed to support what you are using. Thanks to everyone who helped test the RSS feed. Sunanda.

Hi Sunanda, Sac> We've added an RSS feed to REBOL.org. Excellent! Really nice idea to include those three categories. -- Gregg

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. We're supplying the RSS feed to over 30 separate requesters each day, several of them are aggregators, so I've not idea how many people are getting the feed in total. In the first few days we got flooded with RSS readers neurotically coming by at a high rate of knots.....For one day nearly 8% of our CGI activity was feeding the RSS maws. We added a <skipHours> to suggest twice a day is enough. It's a Library after all, not a 24x7 news channel. Pretty much all the readers have accepted that limitation......There is one pushy commercial aggregator that is still coming by every 30 minutes. We may have to ban them as an example for others. Sunanda.

Does using something like FeedBurner (http://www.feedburner.com/) sound like a good idea to you guys? Once you "burn" the REBOL.org feed, you could ask users to subscribe to that feed. It'd help you get some stats information about the readers. As for those who have already subscribed to the current RSS, you could do a 301 permanent redirect to the burned feed, yeah?

Well, if the client understands the Last-Modified header, it wouldn't be bad. Premshree
