Core 2.5.6 X Release

 [1/10] from: carl:s:rebol at: 29-May-2003 18:33

Core version 2.5.6 may fix some of the "corrupt datatype" errors that you may be getting in 2.5.5. See http://www.rebol.com for more info and other fixes. -RT

Can we see a version for Solaris please? -- Graham Chiu http://www.compkarori.com/vanilla/

It's an experimental release, and only for windows and some linuxes. Is that two core releases before a View release? Changes and links to the binaries can be got here: http://www.rebol.com/ex-changes.html Ah, now I know why some people put halt at the end of their scripts. :) Anton.

I would appreciate some elaboration on this corruption issue ..... right now I'm dealing with an uncaught exception that reads as follows: ** Script Error: series word has no context ** Near: series /head /tail /auto /lines This is not being picked up by any of the try/error constructs that I have found to be reliable thus far. (version 2.5.5.4.2 Linux RH 7.2) trace shows nothing helpful..... *And* It's not appearing when I use 2.5.0.4.2 Also, not appearing when I run the script on a Sun Server... Any thoughts would be appreciated. ..definitely disquieting.. thanks -- Tim Johnson <[tim--johnsons-web--com]> http://www.alaska-internet-solutions.com http://www.johnsons-web.com

i do get that "Script Error" too (using 2.5.5.4.2) and i know that graham has the problem as well - so it seems to be a bug in 2.5.5 (at least in the linux version). until now i've been unable to trace it back to something specific ... -- Best regards, Andreas mailto:[andreas--bolka--gmx--net]

replying to myself, but it seems that this error is fixed in 2.5.6. -- Best regards, Andreas mailto:[andreas--bolka--gmx--net]

Yes, but mine is the Solaris version. Perhaps I should start sprinkling a few 'halts around ? -- Graham Chiu http://www.compkarori.com/vanilla/

The problem that I spoke of was not showing on the Solaris server that the same code ran on, but see my reference to the 'sub construct.

:-) My main debugging tools are 'halt, '?? and my own 'mrk which just prints out "#####################here##############" :-)

I have 'fixed' it. It appeared bizarrely that rebol was actually parsing a comment. I was using Andrew's 'sub' subroutine scheme that automatically handles local variables. I removed the comment and changed the scheme to 'function just to be on the safe side. I haven't yet shared this with Andrew, but it remains that neither 'attempt nor 'if error? try[][]' caught this, and that's reflective of a possible rebol 'bug' alright, or so I would think. cheers tim -- Tim Johnson <[tim--johnsons-web--com]> http://www.alaska-internet-solutions.com http://www.johnsons-web.com

I'm interested in putting this in to my version! :) Andrew J Martin ICQ: 26227169 http://www.rebol.it/Valley/ http://Valley.150m.com/
