Newbie install problem: Undefined symbol : atexit

 [1/4] from: scereze::yahoo at: 5-Apr-2002 22:08

Hi, I'm starting with rebol and i'm trying to install it following the instruction on my system (linux Gentoo with kernel 2.4-19) I copied both rebol and rebol.r in their drectories (/usr/bin and /usr/lib). When i tried to launch rebol with my shell it doesn't start. This is the message I got: *rebol: relocation error: rebol: undefined symbol: atexit* Has somebody met this problem ? Thanks for help Sébastien.

I've encountered a similar problem before. The issue was a matter of the libraries being different or differently named/referenced, etc. I don't remember what the conditions were, or what the answer was. It was ages ago. :/ [support--rebol--com] might be able to help, if no one else here can. Sorry, this is all I remember. It's not a REBOL problem, exactly, but a difference in binaries and libraries. Or, it was in my case. --Charles

Hope they can help! I encountered this problem over a year ago, when someone else was working support/feedback. Haven't had as much communication with whomever's there now. Hmm, I don't know how familiar you are with your Linux system itself, but if you're overly familiar, some of the info at the FAQ here might help (this is the 'platform-specific' section - mentions library errors etc). support/feedback should be able to help, though. http://www.rebol.com/faq.html#7674698
