RT's PR activity ....
[1/6] from: petr::krenzelok::trz::cz at: 29-May-2001 13:39
Hello,
this email is probably more directed towards Carl or Holger (I just
wonder if Dan is still around, as business questions are answered by
Holger ...), but maybe other could suggest some scenarios too ...
Some few months ago Carl asked us to spread world about Rebol. While I
believe certain ppl are doing something on several fronts, (e.g. Amiga
world properly informed by Czech Amiga News - thanks Exie! :-), QNX
world thru QNX Start website), we probably need some more ....
I just visited mySQL.com website. Aren't we currently supporting them by
DocKimbel's great free mySQL scheme and natively by /Command 2.0? I
think their site is visited by many users and that's it - such sites and
corporate announcements are central gates how to get into notice by
surrounding communities.
So - my suggestion is for RT to contact mySQL.com authors and ask them
to post short news announcing their database is being directly supported
by Rebol now. I think it is worth it ....
Anyone?
Thanks,
-pekr-

Good idea, Petr!
I think that as a general rule, anyone who's interested in the
proliferation of REBOL can send PR generating mails on RT's
behalf as well. The more the merrier! Here is a hypothetical
letter. (-:
Dear sir or madam:
Just thought you'd like to know that REBOL (pronounced
REH-bul
) now supports your feature X. Using REBOL you can
now do X in a very simple way, for example:
[ short simple code snippet ]
To learn more please visit http://www.rebol.com/featurex.html
Please include mention of REBOL on your resources page.
Thanks,
A Happy REBOL programmer

OK Jeff,
I will note /Command release for QNX RtP on qnxstart website then :-),
but -
1) Is there really version for QNX RtP available?
2) Does it support all features described in /Command feature list?
Thanks :-)

Yes.

Yes: FastCGI, SSL, MySQL, Library, Shell, image engine etc.
QNX RTP is one of the platforms for which we only offer the server
portion though, i.e. no Command/View.

Now I don't understand fully. I looked at one of your older replies where
you stated that QNX, MacOSX and Solaris versions of Command don't contain
View part ...
So, does your above statement mean that QNX RtP does contain View engine
(image datatype, faces, etc.), but there is no Command/View (product
containing also VID capabilities???)
Thanks,

Command for QNX RTP has the same features as Command for every other
platform: with respect to images it contains the jpeg/gif/png/bmp loader
and png/bmp saver, the image engine ("faces", face hierarchies, effect
pipeline, draw effect etc), the image! datatype etc., but no text
support, no VID, no View installation and no Desktop. It is intended as
a server product. This version is available for all platforms which we
are currently offering Command for.
Command/View contains all that plus text support, VID, View installation
and Desktop. This is part of the Command package for MOST platforms, but
currently not for QNX RTP, Linux MIPS and SCO Unixware.
