Petr: I hope we can submit bug reports
A: The product has built in Feedback. Click on [Main Menu & Setup] (picture
of globe on hand)/ [Information]/[Send Us Feedback]
Petr: What kind of protocol does AltME use internally? Is it IOS RMP
protocol? How does it sync?
A: We have not decided to release this info...yet. But when we do, it will
be on www.SafeWorlds.com.
Pert: How will it scale?
A: We are working up an answer for this now. Will post to SafeWorlds FAQ.
Petr: Will it be possible to "install" new apps/reblets into owned World?
A: That is the plan in the future, but for now you are hitting on Gordon's
questions, about why we are free. We have to make money somewhere, but
Gordon will be happy how we keep the product free.
Petr: Why don't you allow proxy settings or why don't you use http tunneling
like IOS does, please?
A: Working up an answer to this.
Gordon: First, nothing is free. What is the cost going to be - really.
A: First...let me state that we disagree. Walks on the beach (and I live on
Maui), Netscape, Pauley Shore movies (ok, they "should" be free)
Your answer: http://www.safeworlds.com/free.html
Gordon: Is there a SafeWorlds - World that I/We could join to get our
questions answered?
A: You can get your questions answered by asking through the product itself,
or through http://www.safeworlds.com/feedback.html.
I understand the "logic" of making a product like this, and then using it.
But "feedback" is really not what it was designed for. For now we want to
let people "play." And keep feedback formal through a single channel, to
ensure that the final answer is posted on the website. But this might
change. We are keeping it loose.
Gordon: I've set up my LinkSys router to forward the ports 5400-5409 to my
local computer address. Is this what I need to do to allow others to join
Worlds that I set up?
A: Working up and answer to this.
Rishi: World: "superglue" Pass: Guest1 (through 8)?
Cyphre: world: "Rebolheaven" Pass: guest?
A: Please make sure your world is up and running for people to log on.
Basically you are running a client-based/server, which is an odd concept at
first. I see people are having some difficulties getting in. This might be
user error (which user I'm not sure: Master or guest). But, please send
feedback if you confirm it is a bug, or if you figure out something we
should fix to make this easier.
Inviting people using the Guest method is not what this product was
intended for, but something we might need to deal with. Hard to judge
features until the signal to noise ratio of "new product use" calms down.
But this is fun!
Be useful.

Re: ALTME: First group of answers ... - Great
Hi Reichart;
Okay, now I'm excited.
I do understand that there will be a 'non-client' server version of
AltME available for purchase as well as a professional version and other
'additions'. This is great and I don't mind paying a reasonable fee for
software. Reasonable does depend on the use of course. As a wild guess
as to what is reasonable for me =96 perhaps something like McAfee where
they charge $29.95 US per year for personal use and small businesses,
(less than 10 employees?), which includes updates for that year. This
would move the program off of your server and onto servers of our choice.
The benefit I see is that your server may get clogged with 1000's of
queries. (The AltME program does seem to go looking someplace for the
World server names).
I would like to use it to keep in touch with my clients. I usually
only handle e-mail once per day, don't like the 'free' newsgroups that
spam you with ads 10 times per second, and although I have ICQ installed,
I only run it when needed because I don't like the spam on ICQ neither.
This really looks like we will be able to set up Worlds for the Edmonton
Amiga users group, the Animation group, the Video Toaster users, the
Schools, strictly family, Fantastic.
I'm also excited that something will be without charge and easy to
download and install, so that we can get other people to use it. So yes,
I am happy on how you plan to keep the product free. This actually has a
chance of widespread use.
On the Linksys router, although I forwarded ports 5400-5409, I forgot
to forward port 5500 as per instruction on the AltME web site. That
could be why no one could get through.
I bypassed the Linksys router and just left ZoneAlarm and McAfee
running for my protection. Wow, do I ever get a lot of hits that the
firewall in the router blocks! (Every 5 seconds). Well at any rate,
someone got through and logging in as guest but I had to reconnect the
router so my wife could access the internet from her computer.
As far as nothing is free; well I guess some things are free to some
people because someone else has paid the price for you. AltME is free to
us because others have paid the price in time and effort to develop it.
There are many people who can enjoy a walk on the beach because their
grandfather paid the price for their freedom with his blood spilled on
those same beaches. We are reminded of that fact, and rightly so, every
November 11.
Thanks for AltME!
Yours Truly
Gordon Raboud

If this (SafeWorlds? AltME? People will be confused by the two names
I think.) becomes popular, I can see quite a revenue stream just from
people registering their World names. Anyone bought Microsoft yet?
(;
> But this is fun!
I bet. And you deserve your fun with this one, and the above
mentioned revenue stream.
Are you happy for us to spread the word around about SafeWorlds? As
I've a feeling it could be the first REBOL app that catches the
publics' imagination bigtime. With it still being a beta, you
mightn't want it growing too fast at the moment...

What a nice "concept" Reichart, and from the start to the distribution and price chart.
I really like the way you do business and I
sincerely hope you'll be paid adequately for your "collective" effort. Furthermore I
hope your "business spirit" will attract more
and more ppl to go your way and so the "world" will change for the better it deserves...
I'll try it in the next few seconds - since it is already on my desktop waiting for me
and spread it in my neighborhood if I find it
an as useful and easy to use tool as your other products are ( and of this I don't doubt
anymore!!!).
Keep up the good work and best wishes for a definitive success story of your own.
Gerard
