REBOL ISPs

 [1/8] from: marcel::theunissen::creaware::com at: 13-Jul-2001 23:27

Does anyone know if there are any (Australian) REBOL ISP's around? Regards Marcel Theunissen

Marcel, I wish there were, I've managed to get REBOL onto WebCentral, but only my work's co-hosted boxes, for the average user going up to the enterprise level is a bit too expensive and also they are IIS. You might be able to get a business site there with REBOL but you will have to sign a waiver first. I haven't found any fast Aussie Apache server based ISP willing to do it yet. Let me know if you have any luck, I tried a lot of hosts last year when I was trying to get the REBOLforces site hosted, "NO!" was the standard response. If there are any, please contact me. Cheers, Allen K Brisbane based REBOL.. http://www.rebolforces.com

Our ISP set us up to use REBOL within a few minutes after we asked, and with no hassle. Their service has been reliable, and their price is reasonable. IIS servers, however, not Apache. I asked them if they would welcome more Rebols, and here is their answer: Louis, Yes we certainly welcome others who wish to use the REBOL scripting language. Given RT's one-licence-per-CPU rule, who pays for REBOL on servers? The host or their clients? I've searched for hosts offering REBOL support but found only one or two. Does the licence create some reluctance on their part, perhaps? On 15-Jul-01, Dr. Louis A. Turk wrote:

I've posted this question before and not had a reply. But I would think it's the ISP. Unless RT want to create a separate licensing model for cgi scripts. -- Graham Chiu http://www.compkarori.co.nz/index.r

If the ISP was offering REBOL as part of its service, then yes, but what if they just say it's okay to stick it in the cgi-bin, but aren't offering any REBOL support as such?

I doubt that NTWebHosting .com knows anything about REBOL licensing policy. They are just letting me put in in the cgi-bin. In my excitement to learn rebol I really never gave it any thought either. I guess I should. Louis At 03:15 PM 7/16/2001 +1200, you wrote:

We have looked at Rebol for some time and I think it is a good way to go. Are you asking about it to play with or to use with domain name hosting?
