Cerebrus and Eudora 5.2
[1/3] from: gchiu:compkarori at: 10-Nov-2002 23:20
Well, it seems that Eudora does things somewhat
differently which I guess is good.
But as was pointed out to me by Louis, Cerebrus 0.9.8
doesn't work with it. I guess Qualcomm being one of the
authors of the RFC2449 meant that they *had* to use their
proposals! Specifically, Eudora first queries the pop
server with a CAPA command which I've never seen used in
OE, or CGPro which is the client I normally use. And of
course it wasn't documented in the earlier RFCs I read.
(I wonder if any other common email client uses CAPA.)
Anyway, I have now fixed it to the point where Eudora 5.2
will now download email, and also runs in my testmode
where it grabs hundreds of email off the hard drive
instead of the pop server.
I've also allowed the user name to have two "@" present as
it turns out that some ISPs require you to use your full
email address as the login userid.
So, for Eudora 5.2 users:

I've also set up Stefan Falk's discussion board to discuss
the shortcomings of Cerebrus.

I had to make a few changes to get the discussion board to
work under Apache, and these are documented in the
Rebolforces disussion board in the General Discussion

3/5 actually!

Yes, Cerebrus is definitely catching a lot of spam. If some gets through
would you like me to redirect it to you?

See you when you get back.

No, this is a different server; one is .net and the other .org extension.

I think I am going to like Ceberus a lot once you get it working for
me. Ver. 1.0.0 was already helping pick out spam.
