/Command direct access to SQL Server (?)

 [1/5] from: coussement::c::itc::mil::be at: 12-Apr-2001 14:43

Hi List: I quote RT at http://www.rebol.com/products.html#command : <quote> REBOL/Command is designed to integrate REBOL with existing infrastructure. It enables ***direct access*** to corporate databases (Oracle and SQL Server) and indirect access through ODBC. </quote> Although /Command is still under ver 1.0 and that I own this version, I didn't notice any reference in the provided doc (REBOL/Command User Guide ver 1.0) to this "direct access" (which I presume is through a native driver) to SQL Server I'm using. It's working fine through ODBC, but a native could achieve better performances ... Did I miss something or is this just a typo ? Capitaine C. Hi list: FYI, this is the answer I got from RT: <quote> To: [feedback--rebol--com] CC: [sterling--rebol--net] In-reply-to: <[200104121725--f3CHPCu13576--brando--rebol--net]> ([feedback--rebol--com]) Subject: Re: [REBOL Helpdesk] assigned #5992 --text follows this line-- Sorry for the mistake. The direct support for SQL Server is not in the current REBOL/Command product but is planned for the upcoming 2.0 release which will include many advancements including more databases like SQL Server. </quote> Cheers, chr==

Currently there are four different versions of Command available: Solaris/Oracle, Linux/Oracle, Windows/ODBC and Windows/Oracle, i.e. ODBC and Oracle (direct access) support are in different Command versions. Support for SQL Server (direct access) is planned for the next version of Command, along with other enhancements. -- Holger Kruse [holger--rebol--com]

For which version of Command though? Or will there be a different version for each sql database :-( And will Command ever acquire view functionality? -- Graham Chiu
