 [1/6] from: D::Weyand::gmx::de at: 20-Jul-2006 17:26

A new REBlet called Analyse-It! is available at >> http://www.TGD-Consulting.de/Download.html << or just visit the REBsite http://www.TGD-Consulting.de/index.r and take a look at its pre-release version. Analyse-It! is a new, cross-platform web site traffic analysis software. It`s "kiss", fast and works on any operating system REBOL/View is available for. Analyse-It! is able to analyse the most popular logfile formats: * W3C-Format commonly used by Microsoft IIS server, * Combined Logfile Format used by Apache server, * Serve-It! properitary, human readable logfile format. Analyse-It! also supports: + compressed (*.gz) logfiles + remote logfile download via http or ftp + built-in DNS-Cache for reverse lookups + unique filter-mechanism on most request-properties + one-click queries to study certain requests or for detailed visitor tracking + context sensitive help bubbles + referer browsing + scroll-wheel support + advanced statistics + ... & even more coming soon ... Please keep in mind that the complete logfile is held in memory during the analysis-process. To analyse big logfiles your computer must have enough resources. To speed-up the analysis of a logfile disable DNS-lookups in the options if not needed. Analyse-It! is an on going sw-projekt. The FINAL-release will have additional features. If you find this software worthy & useful at its current state and would like to use Analyse-It! on big logfiles with more than 1000 entries, please honor my work/efforts and do a PayPal donation. Use the PayPal link from the download-page. Any feedback welcome Regards Dirk

Hi, will there be a non-gui version as well? And a version that reads big files step-by-step? If so, I will del all those log-analyzers I have tried so far as those are mostly scrap. Robert

Hi Robert,
>will there be a non-gui version as well?
Atm a non-gui version is not planed. However, how should the results be displayed in a non-gui version? As plain ASCII or HTML-file? I can`t imagine its benefits. You will loss a lot of Analyse-It!´s functionality in a non-gui version.

It´s not a huge expense on implementation to read big log files step-by-step, but then you can`t process zipped files anymore. How big are the typical log files you want to process with Analyse-It!? Tens of MBs or GBs? Dirk

Hi, well I would run it on my server box and there is no GUI installed (Linux). I would expect a generated report in from of a web-page where images are included to show the results. Otherwise I had to download the logfiles upfront and than analyze them on my desktop.

As said, it would run on my server box and hence every MB counts. ZIP files could be temporarly decompressed and than deleted after analyzing them. Anyway, I'm just a fan of least possible ressource programs. Robert

This update fixes some minor bugs and offers a geo-scan service for the clients (hosts) that visited your web space. To use the geo-scan service within Analyse-It!, click twice on a row of the hosts table for geotargeting the selected host. Any feedback welcome Regards Dirk
