Feedback

 [1/7] from: sqlab:gmx at: 19-Dec-2002 13:50

Hi all As proposend by Carl S. I used the web feedback form for sending some enhancement requests. I got always a fast response. After buying their SDK and sending some bug reports marked as urgent, I did not get any reply. Anyone with similar experience? Even before they switched to the new form, I got answers to feedback messages. So I am wondering now, if either their form is broken or something else has changed. I just get a feedback number using the web-based form. I never get responses back to the feedback stuff. I usually don't bother sending stuff in such as bugs and stuff I find. I usually just find a work around or consider it a flaw that RT must already know about and is working on. Probably, the vast majority of stuff that gets reported to feedback is not really a bug (at least I assume). I figure they just use the Feedback info to confirm the problems they are finding is found by others due to having low resources to handle the effort. So maybe they just use it as an aide for their own bug discoveries. I don't think RT has enough resources to reply to every bug submission. Paul Tretter

Paul You are right, that some of the bugs are old and long known bugs. But some were new, at least to me. - a bug with recycle and ODBC in /Command either it caused an ODBC/error or my application started to consume megabytes of memory after error? try [] -one error with the windows caption causing enface not beeing able to write to the output file. And as I wrote, before the possibility to mark an error as urgent I always got a reply to my feedbacks either with some hints or questions to clarify the problem at little bit more or at least from an automatic mailer process. So I did not store the feedback number. And to be true, I thought, I bought the right to get support together with the SDK. AR

I don't think they *guarantee* that you'll get a response, but they do try to answer things I think. In some cases, they may not reply until they've had a chance to confirm (or deny) that a bug is a bug. I'm sure they're very busy with the SDK stuff. -- Gregg

I've used the feedback form twice. Once for a bug that crashed the interpreter. I got a response in 48 hours confirming I'd found a crash they didn't know about. The second time was only yesterday, and it's something minor about the RT website. I'm not really expecting a response -- other than perhaps to see the webpage changed. So (in my limited experience) they do read, and they do respond. Keep trying! Sunanda.

I think Paul found this as well ... if you use "Title" in the encap header.

I think I also saw something about RT saying that they would prioritize support to paying customers as well. Can't find it at present. But my guess is that they are trying to fix the problems with the SDK, and get their new deveoloper support network up and running. Perhaps you should get an account on Rebol world ( AltME ) as Carl turns up there at least once a week. -- Graham Chiu http://www.compkarori.com/cerebrus
