ANN: Christmas surprise(R-puzzle)

 [1/6] from: cyphre:seznam:cz at: 28-Dec-2002 19:18

Hi all, Finally, I find little time to hack-up all the code together and release first public christmas version of R-puzzle game. As I said it is still a quick hacked version but it is playable so here you are: do http://www.rebol.cz/~cyphre/puzzle.r or desktop/sites/cyphre/r-puzzle some game info follows: -this game *needs* latest Rebol/View 1.2.8 beta (sorry guys, but it uses alphachannel and other stuff so...be patient and wait for the new official release of your Rebol/View port) - ingame controlls: LMB drag&drop pieces, RMB rotate pieces -don't blame me for the strange behaviour of the right mouse button when clicking to fast under View - this is a bug ;-) -I decided to pack together with the game some gfx I found on the net so be patient and download all those ~5MBs of data. I think you will like it ;-) -next version will have online hi-score, better gui, bugfixes and ofcourse some nice feautre requests you can send me using in-game feedback. enjoy it! Have a nice rest of christmas and Happy New Year! And keep up Reboling! regards, Cyphre

Hi Cyphre, I stuck a probe in to see why the download stops and here's what I get: http://www.rebol.cz/~cyphre/puzzle/pics/Beach13.jpg ** Access Error: Bad image data ** Where: load-thru ** Near: return load data Anton.

On my sister-in-law's machine with her old 56K modem, I found the download time long enough but it was such a great pastime you put together that the wait was very welcome after all...

It is functioning like a charm - then it was so on my Pandora's box but your game consumes a lot less resources... and it is also portable ... as soon as the newer 1.2.8. View is ported to other machines and OSes...

this is not too annoying ... since I don't click too quickly!

That was the longest to download but so what for seeing such a great app. running ...

I am having a lot of fun as it is but I'll wait patiently for the next version ... playing with this one !

Don't worry, I fixed it with: load-thru/update/binary http://www.rebol.cz/~cyphre/puzzle/pics/Beach13.jpg and doing the game again. Must have timed out or corrupted or something. Nice work! I noticed if you open "feedback" window, then close it, it closes everything! Anton.

And it tests for version compliance :) However, I tried opening it in Link console, and it told me nogo. Link console seems to be mostly compliant with the latest /View. .. or not? Could this be looked at? (I do have /View on hand, though.) Thanks for that test, though :) Appreciated!!! --Charles

Cyphre: Stunningly beautiful game! (and easier than a traditional puzzle, as you can drop the pieces where they fit if you get stuck, and just guess) the extended family enjoyed playing, a nice way to show Rebol to others. Steve Shireman Cyphre wrote:
