[ALLY] REBOL BROWSER Re:

From: ingo::2b1::de at: 26-Jul-2000 23:34

Hi Mark, originally, this browser started, because I wanted to play with 'parse and 'load/markup, and because I often use lynx for a quick browse, and thought I could as well use rebol for this ;-) Then my text-based browser got a /View Gui, just because I wanted to try it out. Well, /View isn't really fit for a full fledged browser, I think, but there are many places where being able to parse html has his advantages, e.g. the cups printer driver has a www interface for handling printers, and if I get it to print right, I'd like a rebol-interface, so I don't have to start up a browser. On the other hand, I don't see much sense in having a /View Interface for Netscape, sorry, I'd just use the Netscape Interface instead of building just another level upon it. (Unless you mean things like rebol reads some pages, and if content has changed, specific keywords are found, it starts up the browser.) Ohh, and I never intended to build "all the existing web functionality that will have to be implemented" no Java/Javascript is one of the most compelling pros to my browser, it would only be nice to get urls out of Javascript... Just my few cents, or so. Ingo P.S. for you who asked about its whereabouts: do http://www.2b1.de/ (/View only) oder point your browser at http://www.2b1.de/Rebol/ Once upon a time [edinburgh--veitchi--co--uk] spoketh thus:
