It was noticed in earlier betas, and it was said that it was
mainly a limitation in Windows' timer (it worked ok on Linux IIRC).
If it behaves in the same way in any platform now, probably it is
because they preferred to slow down other platforms over finding a
workaround on Win (which is probably not a trivial issue).
Anyway, could you just use a forever loop with a short WAIT?
Windows seems to be able to handle only busy loops. <g>
