[REBOL] Adobe buys Macromedia ...

From: petr::krenzelok::trz::cz at: 19-Apr-2005 8:39

Hi guys, you probably heard already, but if not, here it is - Adobe buys Macromedia. Now it will be interesting, what will happen. I read plenty of comments on OSNews.com related article and most ppl do not welcome the merge, as it sounds like a monopoly of webdesign. There was even one interesting remark: ------------------ We now know why Flex (latest, promising Macromedia technology combining Flash with server side development) for .NET systems (Windows+IIS) has been announced but has not been released while you already have Flex for Java containers. Keep in mind that we now have three major competitors: Server side (and Enterprise) : ..NET Java Flex (Flash) Client side: Avalon-enabled systems (Longhorn) Java Flash Mobile: ..NET CE Java ME Flash ME Adobe decided to finally put in place a development platform that has in Flash and PDF its major foundations. This is a very bold outcome. While I use .NET for server development, I have to admit that I love Flash as client technology. Please, also notice that no-one (but Google, maybe) is caring about HTML anymore. HTML is dead in long terms (AT LAST! :-). ------------------------ The last sentence is something which makes me think, that author of that post might be right. X-Internet is taking-off. Let's hope Rebservices take-off too, and that rebol-as-a-library is spread around the net to do the job. Cheers, -pekr-
