Hey Greg,
I would suggest looking into SNMP too. If you decide to go with telnet, you might be
able to just send plain text to it with a crlf at the end. However it might be picky
though and require that you talk to it the right way. In that case you might
check out a script called "Little Bell." In a nutshell, telnet sends certain commands
back and forth escaped with ascii 255's. Should'nt be too tough.
