This is a whole different story. And documentation (in particular
a community contributed documentation, as asked in this list)
often describes implementation, not the designer's desires. What
you're asking for is a formal specification, which is needed
indeed for a language to be accepted in a lot of places (the
academic world, for example).

Well, you are not forced to upgrade to a new version of the
interpreter. When you have a solution that works, just keep it
running on the same environment.
