VERY WELL DONE! The progressive "unpeeling of the onion"
approach you used is my favorite way to see such concepts
motivated and explained!
The nondeterministic decision and looping methods EWD/IF
and EWD/DO would have fit nicely into your later examples
that added expressive power beyond the conventional control
functions. I recall that you had a hand in bringing those
to satisfactory completion.
