Currently, READ-IO and WRITE-IO are only necessary for async
ports, because they don't work as they should with INSERT and
COPY.
They could also be needed if you really need to achieve the
maximum possible performance for whatever reasons, as beign
lowlevel they could allow you to write more efficient code in some
cases.
