And here's another one I thought of: http://www.equi4.com/metakit/ No synchronization framework that I know of, but still hugely cross platform w/C++ API. Probably lighter-weight and cheaper. The above web site has a number of projects that are similar in spirit to what you're describing. The term they're using is scripted documents, which I think captures at least one aspect LDC pretty well. They've taken Tcl/Tk along this road, and developed a persistence engine (MetaKit) to support more involved applications -> the domain where Rebol (or at least Rebol developers) now seek to tread.
